To celebrate Chef/Owner Art Smith’s weekly appearance on TLC’s BBQ Pitmasters, a reality competition where backyard barbecue fanatics battle through a series of smoky, meaty challenges for the cook-out crown, Art and Soul is bringing back its popular Barbecue Feast on the newly renovated patio starting on Thursday, August 12th. For $25 per person (exclusive of tax and gratuity), Art and Soul’s Executive Chef Travis Timberlake will offer diners a Southern-inspired barbecue experience including Sous Chef John Taub’s award winning Baby Back Ribs. The barbecue lovers menu will be available on the patio every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. through the show finale on September 23rd, weather permitting.

The Barbecue Feast comes complete with: ½ rack of John’s Baby Back Ribs that were smoked for 2 hours and braised in pork jus for a minimum of 3 hours; four ounces of Barbecue Beef Brisket; five Grilled Carolina BBQ Chicken Wings; Potato Salad; Corn on the Cob, Corn Bread and a duo of bbq sauce including Carolina style and John’s Secret Barbeque Sauce. Each week, Taub will be finishing off the ribs, which were recognized with the Golden Pig award at Safeway’s National Capitol Barbecue Battle earlier this year, on the patio’s new “BBQ Bull Matador” grill station. To compliment the smokiness and heat from the barbecue, Mixologist Ronald Flores has created the Smoke and Figs cocktail with bourbon, Velvet Falernum, fig puree and vanilla simple syrup available for $10.

Art and Soul’s newly refurbished patio is a far cry from the usual sidewalk cafés found throughout Capitol Hill. This chic and modern “outdoor room” offers a welcoming gathering place for neighborhood residents, Capitol Hill professionals and travelers alike. One highlight is the “BBQ Bull Matador” that provides a foodie-friendly viewing experience of the chef in action. Stylish red carpets; plush cushioned couches and chairs; and two large, cedar topped communal tables that seat up to 20, set the scene to meet and connect with old friends and “potential new friends.” Overhead globe lights strung from end to end elicit a warm energy drawing diners in to the picturesque outdoor space.

For fans who want to stay late to watch Chef Art help pick a winner on TLC’s BBQ Pitmasters, ArtBar will have tv’s tuned into the show every Thursday from 10 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Morso

Located in the heart of Georgetown, Morso restaurant offers contemporary Turkish and Eastern Mediterranean influenced cuisine in a sophisticated yet relaxed setting. The innovative menu places an emphasis on local and seasonal ingredients. A variety of hot and cold mezze (small plates), along with soups and salads will be featured. In addition, the restaurant will offer an international wine list and artisan cocktails.

Morso’s modern design mimics the warmth of the Mediterranean sun highlighting shades of orange, warm browns, rich woods and earth-tone tiles. Modernistic geometric shapes are displayed in the lighting fixtures, columns and banquettes. The angled bar allows for a full view of the dining area and maximized seating area.

The seasonal menu of small plates is a nod toward the traditional along with updated ingredients, presentations and taste profiles.

Morso Express

Located adjacent to Morso restaurant, Morso Express offers upscale tastes for a fast paced world. This intimate space enables guests to grab a quick bite of Morso’s Turkish/Eastern Mediterranean cuisine in a casual atmosphere, or take-out for home, office, dorm room, park bench… or wherever the dining spirit may lead.

The menu offers a variety of salads, mezze (small plates), pide (Turkish flatbread prepared with various toppings) and the customized Morso kebab. Diners can choose from steak, chicken, shrimp, roast leg of lamb or red lentil kofte and select toppings such as grilled onions, chilies or tomatoes. Guests can also create their own masterpieces- suited to their mood and flavor preferences- by adding romaine lettuce, charred eggplant, fava hummus and more, or sauces like spicy tomato, tahini or lemon garlic mayonnaise.
